NZTA Notice for Total Mobility Users

Delayne Tutemahurangi

A decision has been made to extend the support for fare-free travel on Total Mobility services (up to the regional cap) until 30 June 2020, irrespective of New Zealand’s COVID-19 alert level.  From 1 July normal fare payment processes will resume.   Councils were advised Tuesday 12 May, so it may take them a little time to communicate the changes to their Total Mobility clients and operators.

Fare collection will be reinstated on regular public transport services during Alert Level 2, although there will be some regional phasing of this to allow for differences in councils’ ticketing systems.  Given Total Mobility is a national scheme NZ Transport Agency have taken a national approach to reintroducing fares.  This means that Total Mobility clients will be able to benefit from free travel for the first six weeks of Alert Level 2.
